About
Mr. Raji is a Legal Practitioner with over three decades experience of active legal practice, a Notary Public, a fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation, a registered Capital Market Solicitor by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a board member of both publicly quoted and private companies in Nigeria. He was a member of Nigerian trade delegation to the Republic of Ukraine in year 2007.
The current Chairman of the NBA-SBL Insurance Committee and a member of ten-man Ministerial Committee of Experts that reviewed the Consolidated Insurance Bill in the year 2016
He has since been in full-time legal practice, covering both commercial practice and litigation (civil and criminal). His litigation experience covers all strata of the judicial system in many varied jurisdictions in Nigeria, including administrative Tribunals, Arbitration Panels and Military Tribunals.
He was part of the team that handled various project finance transactions, merger, acquisition, liquidation, receivership and corporate restructuring schemes. These include restructuring of UAC of Nigeria Plc (“UACN”), scheme of arrangement by means of which the investment properties of UACN were transferred to UACN Property Development Company Plc. (“UPDC”), merger of PZ Industries Nigeria Plc. with Thermocool Nigeria Limited, Merger of Total Nigeria Plc. with Elf Oil Nigeria Limited, restructuring of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc, the Merger of Sterling Products Plc and SmithKline Beecham into
GlaxoSmithKline etc, preparing the relevant court processes and obtaining the requisite court sanctioned orders for various corporate restructuring schemes. Dangote Industries Limited development of Obajana Cement factory, Shoprite's entry into Nigerian retail chain franchising, amaongst other. He also advises boards of directors and board committees on Corporate Governance matters, Corporate Restructuring and Crisis Management related issues.
Mr. Raji has in the recent time concentrated effort on Corporate, Commercial, Capital Market, Insolvency Practice, Due Diligence, Real Estate, Banking and Finance, and Taxation practice. He is a member of Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (U.K and Nigerian Branch), Chartered Institute of Taxation and was instrumental to the formation of Capital Market Solicitors.
Mr. Raji heads the firm's Corporate, Commercial, Capital Market practice.
